The Civil War Monument

~ In 1897, amidst loud objections from some county taxpayers, the Civil War Soldier's Monument
was placed in the Park Square opposite the Courthouse.
It was the first monument of its kind to be placed in a public park
 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
